CHENNAI: Current league leaders
Chennaiyin FC players Elano Blumer, John Stiven Mendoza and Gouramangi Singh, who suffered injuries during Chennai's 3-1 win over FC Pune City on Wednesday, will miss a few games leading up to the knock-out stage.
The three players left for Mumbai on Thursday to undergo scan that would determine the severity of their injuries. Of the three, Gouramangi's groin injury is said to be the most severe and it's difficult to say at the moment how long will he be out.
However, Elano and Mendoza might make a comeback ahead of the semifinals.
Elano started limping in the 16th minute of the match and had to be supported out of the pitch. He was replaced by Bruno Pelissari who put Chennai on the lead again against Pune. In the 33rd minute of the game, Gouramangi indicated to the physio that he suffered a groin injury and was immediately taken off. Mendoza, who scored the first goal for the hosts, was stretchered out due to a pulled hamstring.
